Brian James McBride[1] is the former managing director of the Slough-based[2] Amazon.com in the U.K.[3] He stepped down from his role at Amazon.co.uk in January 2011 to undergo treatment for prostate cancer and was replaced by Christopher North. He made a full recovery and now has a number of directorships and advisory roles.

He was born in Glasgow in 1955 and was educated at Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary School in Cardonald and at the University of Glasgow where he graduated with an MA in economics, history and politics. He was president of Glasgow University Union. He joined Xerox in 1977 and subsequently worked for IBM, Dell, and, from 2003 to 2005, T-Mobile[4] where he was Managing Director. He was a non-executive director of the Scottish football club, Celtic F.C from 2006 to 2010. He now holds positions as non-executive director of Computacenter, Chairman of MX Data,[5] Senior Venture partner of Scottish Equity Partners, Director of Monitise PLC,[6] a member of the Advisory Board of Numis PLC[7] and a member of the Advisory Board of Huawei UK. In December 2011 he was appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Executive Board of the BBC [8].

He is married with two children, lives in Camberley, Surrey, and plays tennis and golf in his spare time.
